Samsung Wave hacked to boot Froyo
It looks like the Samsung Wave S8500 we reexamined last year is in the process of losing its wannabe smartphone status and becoming a bona fide Android device. Some enterprising Polish hackers were capable to successfully boot the Galaxy S’ construct of Android 2.2.1 on the Bada-outfitted Wave by exploiting some security holes. The project is yet in the former stages and facing some hurdles with RAM access and CPU drivers, but it appears to be gaining momentum. Android on the Wave is a suitable proposition since the phone is quite knock-down (1GHz CPU, 512MB RAM), yet small (3.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display), and features top notch materials plus build quality, as well as an excellent camera. Check unwrap the mod in action in the video above.
[Thanks, ememop]

100 Million Download on Samsung App Store
src="http://www.arabmobilenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2ef7e__GorillionDollars.jpeg" alt="" title="GorillionDollars" width="480" height="482" class="alignright size-full wp-image-44784" />Ten months after Samsung launched their ain App Store for Bada devices, the company made the 100 million download milestone, a noteworthy result for what we can just termed as a Quixotic quest. The rush to app download nirvana began with the Samsung Wave last year.
There are currently 13,000 apps available on the platform. Users in France, Germany, and Spain downloaded 40% of the amounting, making them the biggest consumer of Bada apps.
While this is all good and good, it seems a bit dangerous for Samsung to rest on its laurels here. The Bada app store exists in a situation where a feature phone has its own apps and OS and there is no mention made of how many of those apps are paid. One hundred million is hunky-dory and full but current success in the Bada framework, especially considering the inexorable move towards Android in the app phone marker, does not guarantee future success on the platform.
